Andre Rieu is a classical composer, conductor and violinist from Maastricht, The Netherlands.

Starting his musical career in 1978, he is known for his part in bringing waltz music to the masses with his Johann Strauss Orchestra – a group which has toured the world with him, bridging the gap between old and new, and creating fans out of people who perhaps would have shunned classical music otherwise.

Having first picked up a violin at the age of five, he began his fascination with orchestra from a very young age. Fulfilling his childhood dreams, he and his orchestra have performed throughout the UK, Europe, North America and Asia. They have acquired a number of accolades, including two World Music Awards. Their recordings have gone Gold and Platinum in numerous countries, with Rieu himself considered a music icon in his home country of The Netherlands and beyond.
